To promote his grunge second collection for fall 2013 – plaid shirts, baby-doll dresses, men’s overcoats, fishnets, and slouchy sweaters – he launched the Saint Laurent music project, which featured his black-and-white photos of musicians with vintage allure, such as Kim Gordon, Marilyn Manson, and Courtney Love.
Courtney Love couldn’t resist him. “When Hedi’s collection came out, I was blown away. I was so happy,” she says. “They were such rock clothes. Everything seemed like it was mine.”

His first Saint Laurent women’s collection (his first expressly designed for women) for Spring 2013 reached back to late-sixties, early-seventies L.A., with broad-brimmed Janis Joplin-style hats, fringed suede, billowing chiffon sleeves, cropped jacked, and skinny black trousers.
Designers have been working with layers of different materials and textures, slipping fabulously detailed top pieces over simpler foundations.
Here, a razzle-dazzle, jet-embroidered halter draped over a sheer black under layer creates a look that’s extremely rich – by Louis Vuitton.

Alexander Wang’s latest collection is available to pre-order, giving us an early insight into what it costs to create a coat out of heat-sensitive (or, as Wang calls it, “thermo-reactive”) fabric.
The coats – which start off a dull green-brown, but become a vibrant yellow, lime, blue or purple when exposed to heat – will retail at $7,995, with a $3,998 deposit required to pre-order. The heat-sensitive skirt and top suit – worn by Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn, Anne V, among others at the show – begin at $2,550, and all look similar until their underlying colour is revealed.

A John Galliano show – whether for Christian Dior or his own collection – is guaranteed to be an over-the-top display of his imaginative vision. And the experience is not limited to the spectacular clothes sent down the runway, for nearly as delightful to witness are the intricately executed, masterfully thought-out ensembles Galliano wears for his final bows. One gets the sense that nearly as much work and planning goes into them as goes into the entire collection.
